20 Ways Motherhood Changed Me
Before I was a Mum
#1 I never looked into tiny teary eyes and cried.
#2 I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
#3 I never recognised the feeling of triumph in getting a baby to sleep.
#4 I had never been puked on, pooped on, chewed on or peed on.
#5 I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
#6 I slept all night with both eyes shut.
#7 I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests or give an injection.
#8 I never knew that I could love someone so much.
#9 I didn’t understand the rollercoaster of experiencing 9 emotions in just one day.
#10 I never got gloriously happy over a simple smile.
#11 I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
#12 I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put him down.
#13 I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
#14 I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
#15 I never knew I would love being a Mum more than life itself.
#16 I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
#17 I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
#18 I didn’t know that the bond between a mother and her child could give you super human powers.
#19 I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
#20 I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being called Mum.
